Wondering what a paragliding take-off in Annecy actually looks like? Watch it live below — and discover why there is nothing to be afraid of.

A gentle take-off, step by step

As you can see in the video, there is no jump and no sudden drop. The take-off happens in a few simple stages:

  • The wing is laid out behind you on the gentle grassy slope of the Col de la Forclaz.
  • A few steps forward with your instructor and the wing inflates and rises above you.
  • Your feet leave the ground smoothly — you are flying, seated comfortably in your harness.

The whole thing takes just a few seconds, and most passengers describe the first moment of flight as surprisingly peaceful.

What happens next

Once airborne, you simply glide above the turquoise lake and the Alpine peaks for 10 to 45 minutes, depending on your package, before a soft landing on the grass at Doussard. Your instructor handles everything — you just enjoy the view.
