Since 1994, Parapente Annecy has been training free-flight pilots on one of the world's most beautiful flying sites. Our paragliding courses in Annecy teach you to fly safely and independently, guided by a team of state-certified instructors who share their passion every day.

💡 It takes approximately 3 courses to reach the level required for the FFVL pilot licence. For a first course, we recommend the 5-day initiation — it's the most complete way to get started.

A typical 5-day initiation course

Days 1 & 2
Ground school
Introduction to equipment, wing inflation, first steps on the training slope. You learn to control the wing on the ground and make your first short take-offs on a gentle slope.
Day 3
First short flights
First short supervised solo flights from low-altitude sites. Your instructor guides you by radio throughout each flight.
Days 4 & 5
Full flights
Flights from the Lake Annecy sites — Forclaz Pass, Talloires, Semnoz. You fly solo guided by radio by your instructor. The revelation of free flight!
Throughout
Theory & weather
Theory sessions covering aerology, weather, safety and equipment — the essential knowledge to fly safely and independently.

Your questions about paragliding courses in Annecy

Do I need experience to join a paragliding course? +

No experience is needed for the initiation course. All you need is to be able to run a few steps at take-off. Courses are available from age 14 with parental consent. No special physical condition is required.

Will I do real flights during the course? +

Yes! From the 5-day initiation course, you'll complete your first full flights from the Lake Annecy sites, guided by radio by your instructor from take-off to landing.

The first 2-3 days focus on ground school — wing inflation, short take-offs on a gentle slope. The following days you progress to full flights from Forclaz Pass, Talloires or Semnoz.

Is all equipment provided? +

Yes, all equipment is provided: certified CEN wing, harness, reserve parachute, helmet and radio. Just bring appropriate clothing — closed-toe shoes, trousers, windproof jacket and thin gloves.

How many courses to get a paragliding licence? +

It takes approximately 3 courses to reach the level required for the FFVL pilot licence. The recommended progression is:

1. 5-day initiation course → first full flights

2. Progression course → consolidation and autonomy

3. Advanced course → FFVL pilot licence level

What happens if the weather is bad? +

Weather is checked every morning and the programme adjusted to make the most of flying conditions. In bad weather, we use the time for theory sessions.

If more than one day is lost to bad weather, we offer make-up sessions at a later date — at no extra cost.
